College Confessions: The Art of Telling Secrets was a project started by professor David Darts in the Fall of 2005 while teaching at the University of Arizona. Over the course of two semesters, he invited students from his Exploring Art & Visual Culture classes to anonymously create and submit postcard-sized “visual confessions” based on their secret desires, anxieties, fears, betrayals, and habits.
These postcards were subsequently digitized and shown in batches of 5-10 slides at the beginning of each lecture. A selection of these postcards have been uploaded to the College Confessions Web site.
Participation in the project was voluntary. Each of the two classes had approximately 175 members and over 200 students submitted postcards during the year. The original inspiration for the College Confessions project was Frank Warren’s Postsecret.
